Black-Necked Crane festival

We had a quick cup of tea at 7 am then drove down the valley to watch the Black-Necked cranes at the reserve. They are heavily protected here and you must watch them from telescopes so pictures are really out of the question. There were 43 in the valley at the time we were there. The reserve headquarters opened early for us as Kencho, our guide knew the operators, we took our time watching the cranes then birded the road for a bit then drove back to the lodge for breakfast outside above the courtyard and joined the Festival. http://www.tourism.gov.bt/what-to-do/black-necked-crane-festival.html
Oh and its a full moon on 11/11/11 ( insert eerie music here)
After the festival we traveled over the Pele La pass to Trongsa, out next birding destination, again the Lodge was very spiffy.
